Meditation for the Soul
Posted: Apr 26 2016
Meditation seems like a pretty simple concept in theory. Find a peaceful place. Clear your mind, free of any distractions. Close your eyes. Set an intention. Take a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. Right?
For most people, they cannot allow themselves to create a space in their lives for the idea of meditation. Excuses like, "I'm too busy," "I don't have time," I have kids and a job, with a husband on the side," - you name it! However, these excuses are not good enough when it comes to your overall personal health. Your health should always be top of mind. Stress should never supersede your peace and happiness. We all must discover that happy place: a positive, calming mindset and environment that takes control of our mind, body and soul. If you are fortunate enough to have one, good job. If you are not, give meditation a try perhaps.
There are countless benefits practicing meditation. The list is lengthy but extremely helpful in achieving peace, productivity and self-awareness. If you've never tried meditating, give it a shot tonight before you go to bed or wake up in the morning. Commit to it and see if meditation positively affects your daily flow and lifestyle. I'm not asking you to stop praying or schedule 30 minutes during your lunch break to meditate. Take 2-3 minutes and go for it. These precious minutes will feel like hours and can help you throughout your day, especially when problems and issues arise.
Need technology to help you meditate? There are many iPhone and Android meditation apps that can assist you in becoming more at peace with yourself. We live in a world where our phones can practically help us with everything. If you can't live (or meditate) without your phone, I would highly recommend downloading these apps. You can only play so much Candy Crush and Angry Birds on your device. Make sure you feed your soul with positive vibes daily. Meditation just might be the new thing you need in your life.
